Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Japanese defender Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, marking their first acquisition under new manager Thomas Frank.
The 20-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the club. While the official transfer fee remains undisclosed, reports suggest the deal is valued at £5 million ($6.8 million).
Takai's arrival marks a new era for Tottenham following the departure of Ange Postecoglou and the appointment of Thomas Frank. The young defender brings international experience, having earned four caps for Japan's senior team and representing his country at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In other transfer news, Tottenham is reportedly preparing an improved offer for West Ham United's Mohammed Kudus. ESPN sources indicate that their initial bid of £50 million was turned down. Kudus has a release clause of £85 million applicable only to Premier League clubs, but West Ham may be willing to negotiate a lower transfer fee.
