The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations creating similar platforms.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the GCA, confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the decision is firm, the association is still working to identify a suitable window in the schedule and finalize the number of participating teams, along with other critical details.
These domestic T20 leagues have emerged as crucial scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra are already providing a valuable platform. They allow local talent to gain recognition and potentially advance to higher levels of competition. Many of these leagues are held in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
